Use layers in Sketch Board
Separate imported images, rough sketches, final strokes, annotations, and backgrounds into different layers.
Quick answer
Use layers when different parts of a board should be edited independently. A good habit is to separate reference images, rough lines, final lines, notes, and backgrounds.
When layers help
- Tracing an image without damaging the reference.
- Keeping rough sketches separate from final lines.
- Adding annotations above a drawing.
- Adjusting a background image independently.
- Exporting or reorganizing parts of a board.
Basic workflow
- Add reference material or a background image to its own layer.
- Lower the layer opacity if you need to draw above it.
- Create a new handwriting layer for your strokes.
- Keep notes and annotations on another layer when possible.
- Use selection and transform tools when a layer element needs adjustment.
